2008 Spring Banquet and New Core Innauguration

This year’s Spring Banquet will occur on Saturday, May17th, 2008 from 6:00pm to 11:00pm at Ristorante Portofino in Pacifica, CA. The programming will include a banquet style dinner, featuring Prime Rib and Salmon as the main course, the innauguration of the 2008-2009 PACE Core, and dancing until closing. Ticket pricing is $50.00 per head.

Academics Workshop: “Healthy Body, Healthy Minds”

Monday, Mar. 10th @ 3:30-4:30pm (CCSC-T160)
This workshop emphasizes the link between being physically healthy and succeeding not only in your academic career, but in all of your life endeavors.

Cultural Workshop: “The Dog Eaters”

Monday, Mar. 10th @ 4:30-5:30pm (CCSC-T160)
This workshop takes a closer look into the stereotypes and labels placed upon the Pilipino people.

Activities Workshop: “Intern Idol”

Tuesday, Mar. 11th @ 3:30-4:30pm (CCSC-Rosa Parks E)
With Talentado 4 is just around the corner, this workshop gives the interns the opportunity to showcase their personal talents among their peers in a fun environment.

Political Affairs Workshop: “Pearl of the Orient”

Tuesday, Mar. 11th @ 4:30-5:30pm (CCSC-Rosa Parks E)
This workshop explores the post-World War II economy of the Philippines in order to provide a deeper look at American foreign policy. We will be analyzing a public relations video by Coca-Cola to show the relationship between American corporations and the Pilipino people.

History & Community Workshop: “SOMA Tour”

Wednesday, Mar. 12th @ 3:30-6:30pm (Downtown SF)
We will be having an exposure trip to the South of Market district in downtown San Francisco. We will take a close look at the places that constitute the Pilipino American community in San Francisco. Some of the places that PACE will be visiting are: the Bayanihan Community Center, Victoria Manalo Draves Park, Union Square, the Filipino Mural at the corner of Lapu-Lapu and Bonifacio streets, and many more.

The 4th Annual Talentado Show!

Our 4th annual Talentado, will be on March 15, 2008 at 6pm. Talentado is our spring showcase, which features some of our general members as part of the lineup. Our lineup for 2008 features, hip hop artists: The EarthTones, Group Therapy, and Jon Clapp, singing sensations: Tracy Cruz, Steve Nader, MissCarolinexoxo (of PACE), alternative rock group: Fake Public, and dance group FJD (of PACE). So come check out the great talent PACE’s community and the greater Pilipino American community has to offer!

I want to thank everyone who came to support the Pilipino American Collegiate Endeavor’s (PACE) First Annual Fashion Show. You guys made it a very special event.

Thank you to all of the brands who participated in the show-RAD, Ultra Vitalence, EthnikRoots, MAMA, Made Jewelry, Ladybird SF, RAH, Greater Than, Selector, Debt Stock, Foreign Family, and Stussy. It was great working with you. To all of the models, thank you for taking part in the show and making history.

A very big thank you to all of the volunteers that worked the event; the show would not have happened with out all of your hard work. Thank you to OSPLD, Associated Students, Inc., Cesar Chavez Student Center Staff, and Rapid Copy for working with us.

Nomadik Messengers, thank you for performing and putting on a great show. Shout out to DJ R-Cen for providing some great music.

To JP Reyes and Kharlo Reboja: thank you for helping out so much. I really appreciate it.

PACE would like to thank each and every one of you who attended our Spring Banquet last night. We had a blast and hope you all did too! Thank you to Andrew Ho for the wonderful photos and DJ Ruuuel for the music!

PACEjam would like to thank all those who supported us in our endeavors. Shout outs go out to our Internships: DEM APPLES and PACE PACK! We had a blast working with you all! We couldn’t have done it without all our General Members, YOU all made those committees work and made a difference in PACE this year! Another shout out goes to our KUYAS and ATES - we hope you all continue with the program and build new ties next year. We can’t forget the support of TRIFORCE - Akbayan and PASA - East Bay, Berkeley, Santa Clara, USF, and if we forgot to mention you - we apologize! Our friends LFS, Manalo Movement, Kappa Psi Epsilon, XPO, and ASU - we hope to continue to build the relationships we have this year with you all and work closely more with each other next year - Thank you for always supporting us! Lastly, thank you to our wonderful advisors Tito Dan and Gonzo, if it were not for the guidance and wisdom that you two have given PACE, we would not be where we are today. We love you!

As this semester comes to a close, PACE can look forward to a new school year ahead. The newly elected CORE is ready to ensure another wonderful year with PACE and the community.

Some things to look forward to: Pistahan - Summer, Open House Fall ‘07, Kuya Ate Program, PAHM Rally, 40th year celebration - Pamana in October, 17th Annual Uniting Pilipino Students for Success for High School Students, S.P.A.M. - Showcasing Pilipino Artists and Musicians, Spring Open House Spring ‘08, T-4 - Talentado 4, K.A.P.W.A. - Kuyas Ates Promoting Willpower and Activism, and celebrating the on going legacy of PACE’s 36th Pilipino Cultural Night!

Trust us when we say there will be more to add on to this list!!!
